Embroidery in progress

This piece is finished now, aside from a little pressing and backing. I think I’ve got an idea for a way to finish these for display that doesn’t require putting them in hoops. (I certainly hope so. I got fed up with hoops recently, and have started working without again. I need a thimble. I know I had thimbles at one point, but who knows where they ended up? My grandmother would be so disappointed with me.)

Banded Iron

… All right, I’ve been doing this incredibly slowly. I blame the satin stitch. What was I thinking?

On the other hand, it’s bizarrely satisfying. I’m hoping it will be finished by May.

Finished objects, and a step forward.

I finally finished the knitting on this purple jellyfish thing, which one day will be a hemlock ring blanket. As you can see, it needs blocking in the most astonishingly dramatic way. I have faith that it will flatten out nicely with a little coaxing.

The jars of cranes are totally amusing me. There’s 25 in each, some handmade paper and some commercial – they’ve all got at least one extra-shiny crane.  There’s a single sheet booklet that goes with them. It’s kind of fascinating.

Looks like there’s finally something happening around here. I do so like gerunds.
